Phnom Penh: On the morning of Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia presented diplomas to 2,551 graduates of Asia-Europe University, including 1,169 women. The degrees awarded encompassed associate, bachelor, master, doctorate, and honorary doctorate levels.

Among the graduates were 69 recipients of scholarships from Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Kittipritbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen.

Asia-Europe University has played a vital role in human resource development, supporting the Royal Government’s efforts in national construction for many years. Oknha Ly Khunthai, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Asia-Europe University, noted that the institution originated from a local organization focused on short-term skills training and was officially recognized by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in 2002. The university was formally established in its current capacity in 2005, and in 2012, it became the first private university in Cambodia to offer a bachelor’s degree in Chinese literature, supported by the Ministry of Education and the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia.

As of December 2024, the Asia-Europe Organization and University employed 485 board members, management, staff, and faculty, with a total of 8,881 students enrolled in professional and undergraduate programs. From the academic year 2005 to 2022, a total of 64,423 students (27,045 women) graduated, including the current diploma recipients.

Asia-Europe University currently offers five faculties: Science and Technology, Sociology and Economics, Law and Political Science, Business Administration and Tourism, and Arts, Humanities, and Foreign Languages. The university provides 23 associate, foundation, and bachelor’s degrees, 18 master’s degrees, and 9 doctoral degrees.

Mr. Ly Khunthai also highlighted the university's commitment to digital innovation, implementing digital management systems and educational services, while continuously adapting to advancements in technology, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, and smart building management systems.

The university has established various practical training facilities, such as virtual hearing rooms, AI laboratories, hospitality training spaces, and banking practice rooms, thus enabling students to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the importance of advancing work skills, stating, “We must strongly promote skill development.” He reiterated the Royal Government's commitment to modernize digital infrastructure and announced an allocation of over $20 million for modern medical equipment to enhance patient care at referral hospitals. He also urged the Ministry of Labor to create opportunities for skilled workers without degrees to pursue bachelor’s degrees and highlighted the need to open doors for skill development among youth.
